Yes on Amendment 2!

Florida ballots will include a vote on Amendment 2 this year, which defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman.

It does not prohibit the state or the private sector from extending various benefits to whomever they wish.  It simply defines what constitutes a "marriage" and prohibits any other legal union from being treated as a substantial equivalent, such as polygamous unions, "group marriages," and homosexual unions.

Statements from the Bishops of Florida on the Amendment can be found here: http://www.flacathconf.org/Marriage.htm

Amendment 2 needs 60% voter support to become part of the Florida Constitution but recent polling reveals that we are just a few percentage points short of that mark.  The Diocesan Center for Family Life is stepping up its efforts to win this battle but we cannot do it alone. We need your help!

We will be participating in a Jacksonville-based phone banking effort to promote Amendment 2. Calls to prospective voters will be made with a brief, pre-written script and our goal is to do this from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday during the month of October.

If you would like to help and there are any evenings you can volunteer, please e-mail Mike Day at mday001@jaxhealth.comEven if you can only commit to a single night, we need you!
