Retrouvaille

Retrouvaille is a program designed to help and renew troubled marriages. The word Retrouvaille means "rediscovery." The program offers you the chance to rediscover yourself, your spouse, and a loving relationship in your marriage.

Who attends?

If your marriage has become unloving and uncaring, if your relationship has become cold and distant, if there is little or no communication, or if you feel disappointment and despair, then Retrouvaille may be for you.

If you are thinking about separation or divorce, or you are already separated but want to try again, then Retrouvaille can help.

If you and your spouse want your marriage to work and are willing to put forth your best effort, then we invite you to come to Retrouvaille.

Retrouvaille is not the answer for every couple. The process involves commitment, communication and change. Therefore each person must have the sincere desire to work on building a stable relationship. Although Retrouvaille is a Catholic program, couples from all faiths are welcomed on the weekend.

What happens during the Retrouvaille program? First, there is the Retrouvaille weekend. This team is given by a well trained team of volunteer couples and a priest who give a series of presentations on various areas of the marital relationship.

After each presentation you and your spouse are urged to spend some time reflecting on and discussing questions which help you examine your own marriage. This discussion between the two of you takes place in the privacy of your own room.

The weekend is not a spiritual retreat, nor a sensitivity group. It is not a seminar, nor a social gathering. You will not be asked or expected to share your problems with anyone unless you do so voluntarily.

You will however be encouraged to put the past behind you, and start rediscovering one another again.

In the weeks following the Retrouvaille weekend additional sessions are held for the group. The follow-up or post-weekend team members review concepts from the weekend and then facilitate group discussions. The atmosphere is a supportive one for couples wanting to continue the renewal process begun on their weekend.

What will it cost?

When you register for the program, a $75 fee is requested to confirm your food and lodging. The remaining costs for the weekend expenses and follow-up sessions will be covered by anonymous donations from couples on the weekend. Please plan on making a contribution; however, we believe financial concerns should not hinder the opportunity to heal and renew your marriage, so please do not let financial concerns influence your decision to come to Retrouvaille.
